I am an artist -
Well - I aspire to be one, anyway.
For years I couldn’t draw a stick figure. Still can’t, really. A ways back I discovered “altered books” and thought it was a terrible idea. Then one day I got the urge to make one. Just … do it. And so I did. A collage artist was born
I really had no idea what I was doing, I literally cut, tore, glued and gave myself permission to use anything and everything. I’ve since gotten on the internet and read some books on technique and I’ve learned some stuff - but hopefully not enough to spoil anything. I DO very much enjoy learning new techniques. Just this week I learned how to do a gel medium transfer - WOW that’s fun!
Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to post some photos of my art work here and classify it as early, mid, and late - then as I make new items, I’ll start dating it. I plan to offer a few items for sale on etsy as well, though truly I do most of my projects for sheer enjoyment and as Picasso said, “to wash the dust” off my soul at the end of the day. Really, I can’t think of anything more relaxing to do with my evenings than to spend a quiet hour reading my Bible, and then break out some tags or a canvas and an assortment of papers and clippings and glues and brushes and paints and glitters and beads and charms and photos and slides and seashells and stamps and ink and …
