So I’m looking at the Initial Evidence thing - again.
I keep coming back to this one sniggly issue. The rest of my theology’s pretty settled (tho I have to admit that I don’t agree with my church on a few pretty minor things. But they’re so minor that it’s a non-issue and I’m not making it one.)
Is tongues the ONLY intitial evidence of Spirit baptism … ? Or can there be more than one evidence, and if so, what is it and how would we then know for sure?
I am currently examining some articles from the Asian Journal of Pentecostal Studies - their Volume 1, #2 and Volume 2, #2 editions both focus on this important issue … tho a quick scan didn’t reveal anything “quite” on point to my dilemma, just much goings-back-and-forth between Pentecostal and non-Pentecostal camps. I may fnd much of value here, though - we’ll see.
I’m also going to look at a book recommended by Rich Tatum:
“The Speaking in Tongues Controversy” by Rick Walston of Columbia Evangelical Seminary.
And it goes without saying, at the Bible.
