Church Change Post #3
Ken and I committed the next morning to do a couple of things. But you know what? Ken and I had a game plan; but God kept saying, “Errrr… guys… this is MY timetable.” 
First, we decided to have a season of prayer about this. We were feeling like God was up to something, but we didn’t know quite WHAT.
Second, we set about ask our friends and a couple of very trusted folks our church family to pray. (I say “trusted folks”
because we didn’t want a “The Sharpes are leaving” rumor to start flying about, if wasn’t going to be true!) We also decided to
solicit counsel from people we trust; especially folks who’ve changed churches under similar circumstances.
Third, we thought we’d visit LCAG a few more times - interpsersed w/regular attendance at Calvary… first impressions can be
deceiving and we didn’t want to commit based on that.
We figured that at that point, if we were still feeling called, we’d make a sit-down appointment with Pastor David and Pastor Danny to discuss it. However, I did shoot an email to Pastor David before I started talking with anyone to let him know what our thinking was. His immediate counsel was to seek the Lord and be sure; he would support us in whatever God’s direction was for our family. Then I talked with Danny, who said much the same.
Ken and I laid in bed over the next few nights, talking late into the night… pros and cons, hopes and fears, dreams and plans. We shared scriptures we’d found, things the Lord laid on our hearts. At times we’d cry because the thought of leaving (actually leaving!) Calvary was just too much to bear. Other times we’d feel overjoyed at the prospect of joining LCAG.
For a while we felt like we were on a seesaw, a merry-go-round, a roller-coaster all at once… but over just a couple of days, confirmation after confirmation poured in. It was amazing. There have been many times when I’ve prayed and gotten an undeniable answer, but this was like God opening every door and window in Heaven and shouting, “YES! YES! YES! YES!”
Going to LCAG will be an awfully BIG change (for one thing, we’d be losing about 960 people on yer average Sunday morning!!

THINKING!) — it’s an awfully BIG step.
As all of those Yes’s were echoing all around us, we put off making the decision “formally” until we’d at least visited the church once more - and so we we decided that we’d go again on Sunday night.
