Raleigh, NC = unpatriotic move to nix the American flag!
Good grief.
I’m always saddened when I see anyone, anywhere, disrespecting or desecrating the American flag. No, I don’t make it some kind of idol… but I am a patriot, I love my country, and by golly even if someone doesn’t, if they live here, they should give due respect. If they feel they can’t, they’ve got some important choices to make (ranging from working to elect better government, or hey! moving!) … disrespecting the flag isn’t one of them.
So when I see that the capital of my own state is making people take down the flag… I get ill (that’s a Southern term for REALLY REALLY MAD!).
From FoxNews:
The city of Raleigh [North Carolina] has limited the number of American flags — and any other banners or signs — to three per property. [snip] A city official paid visits to violators of the new rule earlier in the week, saying Raleigh was trying to “clean up” the busy highway known as Capital Boulevard [...]
Raleigh, NC is trying to “clean up” the city by removing the flag? Sad and sickening. And they’re even going to enforce this nonsense, with a fine of $500/day!!! Outrageous. Why doesn’t the city spend the time and effort combating things that REALLY concern the public and affect the common good? Feed the hungry, alleviate homelessness, combat drugs and crime. But for goodness sake, don’t attack flags being flown in support of our country and our troops!
PLEASE write the Raleigh city council and MayorMeeker, as well as Governor Easley’s office demanding that the city kill this rule.
