This next election’s going to be weird. The front-runner Republicans are all far too liberal (really, there’s not much difference between several of them and the Democrats) - pro-abortion, pro-gay, etc.
One candidate, Romney, believes that God was once a man (of literal flesh and bones, like you n me) on another planet who married, ascended, and thus became a God (still with literal flesh and bones). Now, most people would consider that to be a rather strange belief. Stranger still:Â He believes the same for himself’; this is an integral part of the Mormon belief system.
To Romney’s thinking, Jesus and satan were both spirit-beings in heaven. (that would make them equals… either Jesus was not God, but a much lesser being, or satan is a god… the Mormons relegate Him to the “lesser” status.) The Jesus obeyed, satan disobeyed, causing him to be cast out and man to sin. Jesus was conceived on earth through literal sexual relations between God and Mary. He paid for our sins through his death on the cross after marrying, having children, etc.
Sorry, but I just can’t see a President who earnestly believes he’ll one day be God working out.
