I'm a church planter, missionary, freelance writer, web designer, and laid-down lover of Jesus from Level Cross, NC. I'm married with 3 wonderful grown children. We're currently planting a church and planning a missions trip back to Jamaica. I couldn't ask for a better life!

I write about Jesus, the Bible, revival, healing, the power of God, faith, and related topics. I throw in occasional recipes, home-making tips, news and politics items, and all sorts of random things just for fun.

Warning - mature content: Gay is “natural” because animals do it?

I’ve oft heard the argument, both when I was a part of the gay community, and since I’ve left it, that being gay is “normal” and “natural” because there’s a fair percentage of animals who will engage in homosexual behavior.

I’ve maintained for years that a) humans are different from animals and we should not seek to base behavior on what they do and b) sexually speaking, it’s not unusual for animals to get frisky with about anything, moving or not (our cat really digs the sattelite dish) and c) animals do MANY things which humans consider undesirable behavior (ranging from peeing on the carpet to biting) … would the general public buy that it’s ok to pee in the corner at the Mall, because dogs do it? Should people start kicking, biting, and scratching? Or should we greet each other by jumping on complete strangers with a slobbery tongue to the entire face, like my dog does?

Today’s news brings an even uglier side of animal behavior - a dog has actually raped a child. You can read the story if you want to, but I warn readers that although the media seems to have tried to keep the story decent… there’s really no way to do so.

So - because an animal has done it, should humans? It is, after all, natural if done by an animal…

I really think not. :(
