Five Square Inches of Body Real Estate…
My heels started hurting again. like - really, really hurting. Today was so bad that I actually broke down in tears on the way home. Heels are, what? 2.5 inches around? Total heel space is maybe five inches between both feet? It’s amazing what pain there will do to you.
So yesterday I went to the podiatrist. He ruled out plantar fasciitis fairly quickly via ultrasound and symptoms. I had been dreading that diagnosis (treatable but really a pain to resolve) … but gosh, I wish it HAD been PF. He strongly suspects stress fractures of both heelbones. This doesn’t show up on xrays… have to have a bone scan. He’s also running tests to rule out rheumatoid arthritis. He took an xray of the feet and says there are arthritic changes in the toes.
Neither dx is good… at my age and activity level, I shouldn’t be having fractures. That’s something that generally happens in athletes or the elderly. Fractures mean absolute bedrest for a number of weeks… possibly with casts. And RA is … well … very, very bad.
I know that whatever it is, God can heal it. Please join me in praying!
