…and by His stripes we are healed. (Is. 53:5)

Kathi Sharpe

I'm a church planter, missionary, freelance writer, web designer, and laid-down lover of Jesus from Level Cross, NC. I'm married with 3 wonderful grown children. We're currently planting a church and planning a missions trip back to Jamaica. I couldn't ask for a better life!

I write about Jesus, the Bible, revival, healing, the power of God, faith, and related topics. I throw in occasional recipes, home-making tips, news and politics items, and all sorts of random things just for fun.

Irony at its best: The Freethought Society proceeds to restrict freedom

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,311298,00.html
Georgia’s governor is, quite wisely, praying for rain today. He’s doing so with other leaders on the steps of the State Capital, because he knows that God is the source of rain and they desperately need it (even moreso than we do in NC, where the drought has been devastating this year).
Ironically, the strongest opposition [...]

“Town Meeting” - urgh.

Friday, November 9th, 2007

OK, I just have to say this.
Town Meeting is a notion peculiar to New England; it’s held in the beginning of March each year, presided over by a moderator, and it’s held so that the town can conduct its business. The entire town is allowed to vote on the budget, discuss and stew over major [...]

Boycotting Hewlett-Packard

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Ken and I bought identical HP dv4000’s a ways back. Shortly after the warranty expired, both began to crack in the case near the hinge. Mine has begun overheating and shutting down.
A good friend bought hers perhaps a week after we got ours… and guess what? She has the same problems.
A quick google search on [...]

More thoughts on the self-serving church

Friday, November 9th, 2007

I’m in the process of writing a rough-draft constitution and bylaws for Flowing River… VERY rough-draft. I’ve been researching and reviewing sample and actual documents from a variety of churches — the how, the why, the what, the reasons for spelling it all out. Very interesting stuff.
I ran across this, in the actual bylaws of [...]

Yet more ridiculous news… Hugs banned @ School

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Saw on Fox this morning that a middle school kid got two days of detention for hugging her friends at school.
The school has an express ban on “displays of affection” … which, to any thinking person, would mean, “Necking in the hallway is not allowed”.
This girl wasn’t fooling around with some boy, getting smoochies… she [...]
