Food for the Needy
Our church, Flowing River Fellowship, is currently helping several very poor families in our community with food. We know of one elderly lady who’s feeding five on around $500 a month. They ran out of food completely the other day. I peeked in their fridge and freezer. They had some catsup, a bag or two of frozen fruit, and a couple of packages of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix. So, some generous folks are pitching in. We’re going to be spending our day picking up food, and I guess Level Cross now has a food pantry that’ll be run out of our back room :::boggles::: (Yes, for anyone around, I know that LCUMC has a big sign up advertising their food ministry. No one ever answers the phone… after 20 rings it goes to voice mail. No one calls back. Tried. Sad.)
So - if you live in the area and are in need, please let me know*. If we can help, we will - just be advised that as we’re getting started, what we have in donations might be great at times, and non-existent at times.
If you live in the area and would like to donate food, shoot me an email and we’ll come pick it up and give you a receipt for it.
If you live out of the area but would still like to donate, let me know. The church has a paypal account, or we could take a check or money order, and of course give a receipt.
Thank you!
* I know that someone somewhere is gonna ask, “How is someone in need even going to see this?” The public library, a neighbor’s, word of mouth, even work (yes - we do have working POOR here. Often poorer than the folks on welfare, as a matter of fact.)
