Usually Christian blogs encourage me.
Lately, it’s a mixed bag. This morning, believe it or not, I read on a Christian blog that if a person has a particularly checkered past, they’re really not fit to minister. If they have a particular personality type, they’d best go and be bouncy elsewhere.
Somehow I don’t think Paul or Peter would be elected by the search committee and voted in by the congregation… heck in some of these places I don’t think Jesus would be allowed in.
WAKE UP PEOPLE! IT AIN’T ABOUT YOU BEING COMFORTABLE!

Well, thanks so much for noticing . . . that is the main reason I have avoided church for the past few years. Sometimes bad things happen to good people, and when we are thrown out because we have been victimized by another church-member . . . . well, it is just very difficult. This is a good dialogue, I hope it continues. thanks! Nina

Nina, I understand. I talked to a man today who’d been accused of a terrible crime. His pastor quite publicly dumped him and his family - didn’t kick him out of the church, just ostracized them to the point that I nearly said bad words when I heard it!!
Of course, the accuser later recanted completely (she’d been coerced by a third party to make the accusation).
If churches aren’t ministering grace…
Sighs.
