A great start to my day (sarcasm)
So I’m sitting here enjoying my first cup of coffee. The dogs go wild (something that happens ten times a day). I look out, and there are two dogs in our front yard.
One is a gorgeous white shepherd… with the bottom half of a squirrel, still twitching, in its mouth. He left it on my bottom step as a gesture of good will.
The other is a curly-tailed boxer-ish mutt… happily swimming in our pond (where we’ve got fish). I chased them off, and half an hour later the silly mutt is back in my pond!
Turns out they belong to our back-door neighbor, who’s locked them back up and will look at his fence to see how they’re getting out. They’re pretty nice folks, but if the dogs are climbing the fence there’s not much hope of fixing it. They may have to chain them.
That didn’t solve the dead squirrel problem, although by the time I got to it, it had (mercifully) stopped twitching. I flung it off into the woods. I hope and pray that the dog that got in the pond hasn’t been flea-dipped lately. It’ll almost certainly kill the fish.
The joys of living in the country, I guess?!
