Who doesn’t? You’d be fooling yourself I you said no, IMO.
I believe this: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God
“For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do” (Romans 7:15).
Sin is a universal human problem. It’s something we all do. Not everyone wants to sin. But everyone does. I often wonder why we fall short of God’s standards and our own expectations? We sin because of something that dwells in us, in our flesh. Paul makes it abundantly clear that sin springs from uncontrolled desires. Our only hope for deliverance is the help and strength we receive through Jesus Christ.
We should take care to avoid deceiving ourselves about our vulnerability to sin. We should forever be aware that we are easily tempted, but never surrender to discouragement or defeat. We, like Paul, should always press forward toward the goal of being like Jesus Christ.
Roman’s 3:23, as Reverend Frederick so aptly quoted Paul’s letter.
No truly great (or less than great I guess) Christian leader can even begin to claim otherwise without falling into deep sin and self deception. Billy Graham, a sinner. The late Jerry Falwell, a sinner. The late Pope John Paul II, went to Confession daily because he was all too aware that he was a sinner. In fact there is only one man I can think of who did preach and gather followers unto Christ who did not sin, and that was Christ himself.
We are washed in His blood. Redeemed by His sacrifice and the Grace it affords us. We can not stop sinning no more than we can cease to breathe, at least in my own opinion.

You’re spot on in your assessment of sin, though I disagree with you (maybe) at one point. You said we can’t stop sinning… I think we can put a stop to a whole lot of it through conscious choice. (If we truly couldn’t stop ourselves, God would have given us license, not demanded holiness). That said, we’ll never get to a point of perfection. We can’t TOTALLY stop. Sooner or later, we’ll make a mess of things.
So I have a follow-up question for everyone.
What must a minister do, if he sins?
(and if you think I’m headed back to Lakeland with this – you’d be right!)
Yep Kathi, was tuned into the blog by Missy! And I do agree that a good deal of sin can be stopped by conscious thought about it, but as you just said, we still screw up sooner or later…sadly all part of being human.
As to what a minister does when he or she sins…confess it to God, or if need be to someone else whom he or she has wronged. Believers are called to hold one another accountable in growing in holiness.
What we must remember is we sin in the flesh. Our flesh is weak, but our spirit is strong and it takes our spirit man to over come the flesh. We have to pick up the cross daily and look to our spirit man and we can over come. If we sin we confess and ask for forgiveness. Never lay your head down at night without searching for this. Am I my brothers keeper, YES
