I’m going to try to write a play-by-play of our weekend. In this post, I’ll write about our experiences at the revival meeting in Charlotte (well, really Fort Mill, SC but most everyone CALLS it Charlotte!)… and in the next I’ll tell of the miracle God did in keeping my daughter and her friends alive and uninjured in a serious car wreck.

If you want to read something REALLY cool, scroll down to the heading, “A Visit From Jesus”. :D

ARRIVAL

Thursday morning we packed up and headed down to Charlotte. Our hotel (Best Western Carowinds) was quite nice. They let us check in early. We got a bite to eat and headed over to Morningstar fairly early. We’d never been there before, so we drove around and saw the big field where Friday’s meeting would be, and sort of self-toured their campus.

I’d heard that Morningstar had bought the old PTL (Jim Bakker) campus, but since the whole PTL thing blew up years before I cared about what Christians did, I didn’t know about it. They sunk bazillions of dollars into the place, and apparently even though it was opulent, some of the workmanship was shoddy – especially on the high-rise apartment building that’s going in right next to the church (which meets in the former lobby of the big hotel). Opulent doesn’t even describe the hotel/indoor mall/church… it looks like something out of a fairy tale (and yes, there IS a castle on the premises too – but it seems to be boarded up for now.) Morningstar bought it for 1.6 million in terrible disrepair, and they’ve been fixing it up ever since. It seemed to us that where they were able to preserve the beauty of the place inexpensively, they’ve done so – but where that would cost too much they’ve opted for plainer and more practical.

PARTNER’S MEETING

After we registered for the partner’s meeting, we ate a nice and inexpensive lunch in the church’s Missions Cafe, then wandered through the bookstore and such. While we were eating, we got to say a quick hello to Rick Joyner. I gained a lot of respect for him over the two days we were there. Many senior pastors of important ministries expect everyone else to do the work, and the pastor expects to sit in the air conditioning and get the glory for it. Rick was out there talking with team members, making sure they had what they needed… and on Friday he was out driving a golf cart around working!!

Eventually we bought a book and got in the book-signing line. I highly recommend that everyone read Todd’s latest book – The Reality of the Supernatural World. He signed it for us, and chit-chatted, and shook our hands. I do admit that it’s nice to know that it’s possible to be touched by Todd Bentley and NOT end up on the floor!!

The partner’s meeting was nice. We weren’t sure what to expect. They talked a lot about the work in Uganda, especially with the child soldiers (made me cry!) and they took up an offering, of which 100% of it goes to that work.

IMPARTATION

Afterward, we had a healing/impartation prayer line. This time when Todd touched me I went out on the floor (most folks did) and I had an experience with God that was just incredible. I could feel the heavy weighty kabod glory of God, and peace and warmth and love flowing through me. I just lay there for a long time, just drinking in His presence. After it was over, no one wanted to leave!!

FRIDAY’S REVIVAL SERVICE

On Friday, we got up and found the Starbucks :D We eventually made our way over to Morningstar. It was a big open field, but fortunately the main building was open and air conditioned, so before the service started at 5, we were able to go in and rest a bit. We sure got sunburned! :) But interestingly the sunburn doesn’t hurt…

CARNIVAL?

I’m sure a lot of people who see it on GodTV or youtube will say, “It had a festival (or carnival) atmosphere”. Well, sure. If you get a coupla thousand people together in a big open field, and make sure their needs are met, it’s going look like the county fair minus the rides. People need to potty – and so there were portapotties everywhere. People need to eat, and drink, and so there were food vendors (most of which were reasonably priced!). People also brought in coolers with dinner and bottled water. Since it was in a field, most people brought lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. People want to buy stuff, so the bookstore had a tent with books and t-shirts and such. Music or video was playing. Was it a festival? Yes!

One neat thing is that it was 08-08-08 and it was 88 degrees (the temp dropped 10 degrees between Thursday and Friday — THANK GOD!!). Still hot but not enough to really cause trouble.

The worship was great, but it was a little difficult for us to get into because we didn’t know ANY of the songs. The musicians were fabulous, and we did pick up on the choruses of a few songs along the way. So, we just had to determine to worship the Lord despite that. :) It was good dancin’ music!!

A VISIT FROM JESUS

The first highlight of my evening was when Todd announced that they were going to have a special commissioning for ministry prayer for people ages 25-40. Bob Jones had given a prophetic word prior to the meeting about a “new breed” of Christians – which I took to mean the younger generation rising up and really believing in, and acting upon, God’s Word.

So I stood up along with hundreds and hundreds of others, and Todd prayed over us all. Mid-prayer I suddenly couldn’t really hear him any more. It’s not like I went deaf – it’s more that my focus changed and his voice became part of the background noise.

I had my eyes closed and my hands raised and I was praying to receive everything that God wanted to give me.

Suddenly my eyes were filled with light, and out of that light I saw Jesus coming toward me. I was filled with awe and holy fear and anticipation all at once. I started crying, because I could feel His love for me. He stretched out His hand (I saw the scars!!) and He touched each of my hands, and my forehead. I very nearly fell out on the ground!! Then He was gone from my vision…

I’m not sure how to describe what I felt in those moments, except that after He had gone from my vision I could sense His presence in a greater way than I ever could before. For me, that’s really saying something, because the instant I was saved I could feel Him there with me, and that sense of Him has been growing ever since. And yet Friday that grew so much more that… wow.

I also had a literal sense of commissioning, and a confidence in God and in His ability to use me, to strategically position me, to speak through me.

I’m sure the heresy hunters will have a field day with my vision of Jesus… oh well. I think I’m going to make a heresy-hunter-hunter’s site this afternoon :D They need to get over themselves and read the book of Acts. They might even get saved…

RAIN

At one point, Todd brought up a young man from the Morningstar school (they’ve got a K-12 school there apparently). He and several friends had been to Lakeland, got some, brought it back and kicked off revival services there – they’ve got meetings 6 nights a week! That was one on-fire kid!! During the offering, they played a video of revival services there… WOW. People giving glory to God and burning with passion for Him – healings and miracles – and twice, rain… you could see on the video that literally drops of liquid were forming out of thin air and falling from above. It was WILD!!

HEALING

Todd started to call out words of knowledge. One was for a pain in the side, which Ken’s had for months. He reports that it’s gone. There were several dramatic healings that night.

MINISTRY

When we sat down, a mom and daughter sat next to us. It was obvious that both had health problems, and that the daughter had some muscle problems. She didn’t move right, speak right, etc. God spoke to me, “crack cocaine”, torment, and the name Ashley, and several other things. We planned on praying for both of them during the healing ministry, but late in the evening the daughter took off. The mom told us she was laying down in the car, feeling really awful. So we prayed with the mom (who’s on dialysis), and went out to the car. We prayed with the daughter, confirmed the accuracy of those words of knowledge, counseled her about unforgiveness and a few other things, and ended up going out for a late-night dinner with them. Lovely people. It’s hard for me, when I do God-encounter ministry like that, because it’s rare that I find out what happened afterward. They’ve got our phone number, maybe they’ll call us one day.

CAR WRECK

We were just about to pay and leave the restaurant when my cell phone rang. Why would Kayti be calling after midnight? I answered and she burst into tears. She’d just had a car wreck… and I’ll continue about that in my next post.

Todd Bentley is a fraud. He is nothing more than a false prophet with major rage issues. Jesus never kicked people in the face or punched/kneed them in the stomach to make a point. I don’t understand how anyone in their right mind could possibly buy into this. Prayers.

Forgive me if this comes out wrong sounding, but why would the music matter as a part of getting into worship? His Presence should be the only thing that matters, for He transcends all barriers.

Philip I would tend to agree with you. We should enter any service ready to receive from God and be in his presence. the trouble is for some, they have been raised to believe they need praise and worship music to usher them into the presence of the Lord. I don’t believe alot of people have truly found that we don’t need music to have the experience of Jesus come alive. As I tell my people, its not music its the spirit

Alycin, if there’s one thing that Todd is not, it’s a fraud. You may dislike his style of ministry – and that’s all right – but for some reason, the people get healed. Last time I checked, satan was incapable of true healing miracles. If it was a matter of someone “feeling better”, yes, satan can do that (temporarily) in my experience and study… but he cannot HEAL, and these folks were HEALED.

Philip and Rev (and Rev Merry – just in case you’re two different people????)…

It’s not that I need the music to come into the Presence… (don’t need any!)… it’s a matter of my conscious mind trying to take over. It might have to do with the fact that I really love music. If there’s music I know or can easily catch on to, my mind lets go of needing to pay attention to it, and it’s easy to focus on the Lord. When I don’t, or if it’s music of a distracting sort, then my mind wants to focus on it, dissect it, learn it… I have to really make myself ignore the music and “enter in”.

Years ago it was a big problem for me, now not so much. I only commented on it because I was surprised that they didn’t do songs everyone would know – but it’s possible the songs were Morningstar songs…

Hmmm, and while you were being “blessed”, Bentley was in the process of further demonstrating that BIBLICALLY he is unqualified to have any position of authority within the Body of Christ. No we learn today that tragcially his children and wife are going to pay a terrible penalty for his lack of biblical character and integrity. His inability to lead them to Jesus and minister to them by the Spirit, disquailfies him entirely from “ministering” to you or anyone else. On can only wonder what has gone on, someone so “apparently” so upright, full of the Spirit…and yet when you break down his “teaching” it is nothing more than New Age drivel. Point blank ” The boy can’t preach, theologically is deluded, and associates himself with some of the most notorious heretics of the 20th century. It’ sno suprise that he is lving in unrepentant isn, becaue if his wife hasn’t committed adultery, he has no biblical justification for divorcing her and abondoing his children…PERIOD.AMEN.

Ron, considering that you do not know the circumstances, is it your job to judge and condemn?

Will you apologize if it’s untrue (I read the news report and thought it funny that the press is relying solely on the word of an ex-employee)?

Will you apologize if there’s biblical grounds?

And BTW, I associate myself with some of the folks you call the most notorious heretics of the 20th century, and believe much the same as they do (guess that makes me a happy heretic, eh?)… and as an ex-occultist I can tell you that there’s no new age teachings in what I believe… but apparently there is in YOUR beliefs.

You’re about to end up on my new “hunting heresy hunters” website, Ron…

Kathi quite honestly if you refuse to do any research in Joyner, or Bob Jones, or Paul Cain than all I can say is so be it. How many opportunities do these folks get, theologically and prophetically. Their is a serious spirit of error and delusion base on their understanding of the persona nd work of Jesus Christ, who the Holy Spirit is. And what sort of “New Age” beleifs am I guilty of promting. Can you give me one solid example. I have sent you links, and yet you discount anything anyone has revealed and exposed about some of the men and women I have mentioned.

And yes, I will whole heartedly and willing post my apology to Bentley if this “alleged rumor” of Bentley’s marriage disolving.

I wonder Kathi if you have read C. Peter Wagner’s letter posted yesterday regarding his assocaiation with Bentley, and the “commisioning ceremony?’ It is probably the most “cover your butt” sorriest excuse of the error that Wagner advocated. And now he is trying to distance himself from what he and the leaders on that platform prophesied about. It won’t it hasn’t come to pass. Thus, they as ususal false prophesied. That’s what false prophets due. They don’t know the Spirit, can’t hear from the Spirit.

And let me ask you a question if I may. People reagrd these leaders as modern day apostles and prophets, if they are why can’t the discern biblical truth from error? Did they nott know in the Spirit that Bentley can’t even manage his own household, whcih is in my mind probaly the most essential qualification for leadership. At least according to my Bible? And if they are “apostles” and prophets”, why aren’t they following the biblical model in Acts for selecting leaders. Wagner beleived that Bentley need “apolstolic alignment”….whatever Pete! Trouble is Pete that statemnet is nothing but Latter Rain New Age nonsense. The biblacal mandate is to KNOW who you are dealing with persona;lly, and what they beleive theologically, and then after a period of testing you lay hands on them.

Wagner, and his band of minions, were so self assured, and basically wanted to ride the “Next Wave” so to speak, and essentially used Bentley to promote the Latter Rain movement without dong any background examination of his minstry, tactics and/ or theology. But here’s the tragedy, no rebuke or correction will be received by these folks. It will be busines as usual. Make no mistake, another Rodney Howard- Browne, Todd Bentley type will come along, and make no mistake “God” TV or the TBN will get on board, and rape the Body for more and more millions of dollars, to keep them afloat, and to buy a new Mercedes! And of course anyone that dares to confront “God’s anointed will be labeled a “heresy hunter.’ Kathi, I don’t need to hunt, the “game” if youo will is right in front of our face daily, forcing people into making the decsions to expose them.

Ron, maybe if you read your Bible a little more…

    :)

I’ve not found a thing in Fresh Fire’s ministry yet (or my own, obviously) that I can’t point to my Bible and say, “here it is” or, where the Bible is silent on a matter, piece together the biblical “why’s” of something (for example, female angels).

    >>forcing people into making the decisions<<

Ron, that's new age right there, buddy.

As for the rest – if you're more concerned with new agers and satan than you are with Jesus and what He's doing and His glorious manifest presence… that generally makes you one of two things:
    1) a new ager/satanist
    2) a schizophrenic (I know several who are very concerned about these things)

I'm not going to question your salvation, but I will say this – if you were really a lover of Jesus, you would be on your knees crying out to God for these people for whom Christ died..

As a follow-up, FFM have said there has been no sexual sin involved on either side, but that there has been ‘friction’ between them for some months, which marital counselling has so far failed to resolve. I don’t know the ins and outs of why it’s happened, but I should imagine there will be a lot of bewildered people out there, so my prayers are for all of them as well.

OK…excuse the term “forcing” attempting to persuade, make know, bring knowledge. And, while I may be a little tooo concerned, I hate the works and the deeds of Satan, and the New Age Movement. My point Kathi is Todd Bentley isn’t able to discern truth from error, and he demonstrates this in his own owrds, and adhereing to a revised form of Branhamism. Still a doctrine of demons, and his revelations and experiences don’t match with the revealtion of Jesus Christ found in scripture. I mean seriously, you tak someone as credible who calims he has visited with the Apostle Paul??? That’s called necomancy, communicating with the dead. Or how ’bout his opan portal beleif system. No where in scripture are we to find “open portals”. You were in the New Age Movement, and you should know what that loaded heresy means.

Let me tell you something about my heart for the loss if I may. I come from a lineage where no proclaimed Christ as Lord and Savior. No one. My visits with my parents and brother and what’s left of a seriously dysfuctional clan grieves me daily. My parents for example, have heard the truth in various denominations including Baptist, non-denominational, and with the church I am a member of now. They recently witnessed the baptism of my 123 year old son. Yet they see “no need” if you will for Christ’s saving life and work to them personally. I have wept with my wife for a family that has rejected Him and instead beleiveds they or OK becasue of some rituals within Roman Catholicism they participated in. My work life consists mostly of unbeleivers who are more interested in the things of this world and were pluralism and jsut about any world view goes. Duluth Minnesota is infested with the radical gay, New Age movement, where the sufficiency of Jesus Christ, the glorious church that He is buidling is mocked in the local media, and several major universites that are antagonistic at best to the Gospel. In other words, it’s called the world right in front of me.

And so Kathi I do weep. But I also weep and am angry that there are those who are twiting God’s truth to suit there own agenda, who are more of a stumbling block to knowing Christ and Him crucified. That abundant life and the Gospel of the Kingdom and HIS right to rule and reign in our lives will bring joy, peace no matter what circumstances.

And know this alos, I have been “witnessed t” buy Oneness Pentecostals’, and adamant cessationists, and amazingly both could bolster there arguments by misapplying scripture that fits neatly into their particular “shibolleth”, and pronouncing me “unregenrate.”

Many have been crying out to God for those who are going astray, and leading others. Instead of seeing breakthrough, we are actually seeing more deviancy and more heresy everyday. Scripture promises this will happen, and not something based on mere emotionalism, hype, falshoods and celebrity. Make no mistake Todd Bentley is nothing more than a flash in the pan, here today gone tomorrow, and another one like him is on it’s way that will say anything, do anything to become popular and looked upon as legitimate. It’s the spirit of the Age. Celebrity, sensationalism, big light, big cards, fame fortune…you know the “American Way.”

To hell with the American way, we are a nation engulfed in the filth of porn substance abuse, adultery, divorce and general apathy towards the things of God. Most of our citizens have bben sitting in the same dead churches hearing an insipid “gospel” of security, pop-psycholgy how to messages of how to be a “better” boss, employ, dad, mom, neighbor, have been doused with the false doctrine of financial prosperity, while the rest of the uncivilzed world starves and suffers under brutal dictators and a religious system that has one goal and that is to kill you and I.

My opinion is we not only need to tell the truth about the life that is found in Christ, but to also to by the Spirit dismantle every loift imagination, and speculation as well. We are called to defend the faith once given to us, and call our brethren to have nothing to to with false ministers and gsle Christ’s. And those are abounding as we near the return of Christ.

I guess the hundred fold doctrine is true. Tell a hundred fabricated stories, pronounce people healed, except for the thousands wondering why God rejected them in wheelchairs….add a little Madison Avenue Ad Ecec’s, find a chruch that has little or no discernment in it’s leadeship, and lied that this was some sort of unexpected Outpouring when factaully it was well conceieved and manufactured…and viola…a Todd Bentley c’mon down, your the next Ministry Superstar. That’s right Todd, everything you hoped ministry would be, big houses big cars clebrity status, world travel, accolades and defenders. Except one thing will be missing, the most important thing God ever gave you besides a second chance, your wife and your three children. Todd has decided it’s tooo difficult, ther’s tooo much friction. And so what does any good North American citizen do….run.

Ron – while I am vehemently against the Lakeland thing, I think your last post about Todd’s separation is … spiteful. Don’t you think your time would be better served praying for them all and asking for God’s guidance and mercy for them? Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the whole phenomenon, I should imagine any marriage would be tested by all the hype, press coverage, adulation, time away from home. He may have made foolish choices with regard to his family, I don’t know, but I think it’s wrong to gloat. Just my opinion.

Kathi, if you can tell me one instance where Jesus used physical violence to heal, I will retract my statement and apologize.

My concern here is for the people who believe Todd Bentley is doing these things and that God approves. People will try anything when they are desperate for healing. I watched all the videos on youtube about Bentley and I saw some very sad cases about adults and children alike who were desperate for healing of terminal illnesses. Not one of them found healing from Bentley. Not a single one. When asked for documentations of healings with doctor verification, none were presented. The documents presented had so many names and pieces censored, that any of the healings are IMPOSSIBLE to verify.

As for people and their personal experiences of being “touched” by the spirit through Bentley… I cannot make any authoritative comment on that either way, because unlike some of what I have read in comments by you, I do not claim or imply that I know the state of someone’s salvation and their personal interactions with God or Jesus.

I will say, as a psychology major, that it is very possible for people’s beliefs to influence their physical body. I don’t believe that to the point that some people do (like The Secret followers) but it does call into question the validity of personal accounts of people falling to the floor from being touched by Bentley. I would bet you $1000.00 bucks that someone who did not believe in Bentley would not fall to the floor at his touch… because it is the psyche of the believer or nonbeliever that influences how they will respond to that.

Statements such as “If you were really a lover of Jesus…” and implying that someone needs to read their bible more are really ridiculous. God is the only judge when it comes to the state of someone’s soul or someone’s personal journey with God. However, when someone’s personal journey turns into a public ministry as it has in the case of Bentley, I think it’s important to question and know the truth behind it all… ESPECIALLY pertaining to the violence and rage… this is the biggest problem I have with all of it.

One last thing– you say that you have been able to look to your bible and piece things together or find biblical truths to support Bentley. Who is interpreting these things? How are they interpreting these things? Don’t you think that since you WANT to believe Bentley’s claims are true, that it biases your interpretations? How do you feel about the Westboro Baptist Church? They use bible verses and can back up all of their actions and beliefs with a bible. Satan himself was able to twist the word of God for his own purposes when he tried to tempt Jesus in the desert. Anyone can point to verses in the bible and use them for just about anything–it’s hard to deny that.

I would ask that you pray for me, and I will pray for you, that we both are able to serve Jesus and know Him & His truth in the way He intends.

    With love,

I am not gloating…far from i, rather wanting peole to understand that when you exalt yourself, and let others promote falsehoods on your behalf…well if we will not humble ourselves, we will be humbled. This whole Bentley thing from day one has been another tragic case of somone being propped up when theoligically and personally his an unqualified minister of the Gospel. And only a sick media fascinated society allows this. If it weren’t for the internet, and GODTV, no one would have ever heard of this guy. Once the facts came out, the lies revealed, the sick still leaving LAkeland sick, crippled, lame, blind, and the dead still in the coffins, thre really wasn’t much else left. Rememeber what you are hearing right now is being filtered and scrutinized by Fresh Fire, and Madison Avenue. We may neve know waht happened between Bentley and his wife.

This is the fruit of unrighteousness. This is waht may happen if you merely merechandise the Word of God, and BEntley and Ugnited did jsut that, and are going to be held accountable for the MILLIONS of dollars this chaos snatched away from local churches, and mission abroad, to feed egos, and yes, I know many there icluding some leaders genuinly wanted to see Chirst glorified, and people made whole, and saved and filled. Problem is when you don’t preach repentance from dead works, holiness, the Law, and the sufficiency of Jesus Christ, well you get Lakeland, and Toronto.
