New Jersey Water Park at the Beach
Posted by Kathi on August 27, 2008
OK, so I never thought of New Jersey as a place to take a vacation of any sort – let alone a family beach vacation. So I guess I only have ever seen the highway through the smelly parts of Jersey, and never equated that with places like “The Jersey Shore”.
I came across a link to New Jersey water parks, and discovered a place called Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Waterparks.
Ken and I have been watching this program – I think on History Channel – that features roller coasters and extreme rides – including water parks. We decided that the 10,000 foot straight down slides probably weren’t for us (hmmm. weight+gravity=not so sure about that!) but some of the other rides looked like lots of fun. So now we’re keen to go to a water park for a day – maybe this fall when it’s not so hot.
And it wouldn’t be too hot as far north as New Jersey, I guess!
Moreys has Magical Mondays and other specials throughout the week – and there’s apparently two parks to choose from with awesome looking slides and rides. For families they offer kids camp and such. THEY EVEN HAVE WIRELESS INTERNET — I guess if you can’t get away from the computer for a whole day and splash and play, you need to get a life!!
Well, if we’re ever up that way we’ll definitely stop in! Anyone have experience with either of these parks??

My family took a brief vacation to Atlantic City, NJ a few years ago, We visited Steel Pier (www.steelpier.com), which has a mini-roller coaster and other amusement rides hanging out over the water.
I’d never been on a big tourist pier that wasn’t devoted to fishing, so it was an unusual experience. However, it was a lot of fun for everyone, especially knowing that people had been coming to this amusement-park pier for over 100 years.
We go to Morey’s anytime we’re vacationing “down the shore” (Wildwood) with the family. Half the time, half the rides aren’t working. Ah, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but that’s what it seemed liked with disappointed kids in tow!
My favourite water park is my beach. At the moment we have whales in the bay and we saw a mum and bub the other day
Our beach is fresh, clean and unspoilt complete with lighthouse on the point. Reminds me of a scene from an old Enid Blyton novel, minus a fantastic adventure lol
Ooh – was that the The Island of Adventure, with the puffins?
Kathi, if you’ve forgotten, I’ve lived in South Jersey my entire life. I LOVE Wildwood, it’s my absolute favorite place to be in the summer.
The piers are spread out over about 5 miles right along the beach, and there are park benches about every two steps. There’s also the tram car, which is more or less the trademark. When I was little, I used to make it stutter just for fun.
Lots of shops, most of them selling t-shirts, hoodies, etc. (though not always with the most appropriate messages).
There’s a boardwalk chapel there.
Food. Clog your arteries type stuff, but it’s fun. Plenty of places to stay, not sure how reasonable it is–remember, it’s a resort area.
Anyhow, I think you would enjoy it, as long as you’re up for rides.
The water park is expansive and really nice, too.
I went to Wildwood last month, and took a ton of pictures…I’ll upload them soon and link you when I get them up, if you’d like.
YOU SHOULD GO. I only wish I could come down to meet you guys–but you know how it goes.
LOL – were you an Enid fan too Jules?
Cape May NJ rocks too.
