another update
Saturday through now is just a blur of pain and drugs.
I really had NO idea that a rear-end collision could leave us with this much pain and this many problems.
Ken is working from home temporarily, so that he can sprawl out and be comfortable, and his boss won’t have to worry about him falling on the floor. We’re seeing a chiropractor-plus every evening. Today will be the first day that we’ve eaten anything at home. I think it will also be the first day that the poor cats have been fed.
We’re both having vision and dizziness problems, plus I still feel like I’m falling through space. It’s the most unnerving sensation. I’m fairly used to it now, but doing simple things like riding in an elevator or looking over the edge of a balcony, or even our low-to-the-ground deck, are WAY too much. It’s hard to sit at the computer for any length of time. This one post has been composed over about 1 hour because I can sit and type for a minute, then have to get up and walk away because of my eyes and head.
The good news is that the CT scan of my brain is normal (yes, I have one!!!
) - so the whack to my head didn’t cause any serious damage to my head. My neck is another matter entirely. Our doc says that neck injuries often cause dizziness, blurred vision, headaches, and even my falling feeling. Hopefully within a week or two, as the swelling goes down, we’ll start to feel better.
My goal for the day is to clean the kitchen. I’ve been attempting that for well over two hours. Managed to wash a few coffee cups and clean one counter. This is ridiculous.
We did end up hiring the attorney. This mickey-mouse insurance company (that also does tax returns and sells phone cards and pre-paid debit cards) lost our claim over the weekend, so instead of hearing from an adjuster by 6pm last night, now we have to wait. I told the supervisor I talked to that we’d better hear from them by noon today. The attorney will handle the bodily injury portion of this mess, but not the property damage since that’s fairly straightforward (or, it SHOULD be).
Thanks for your prayers, everyone!
