Opportunities Abound!

It’s really amazing how God uses mundane circumstances, everyday occurrence, and even adversity and “bad” things for our good and the good of others.

Ken and I were in that car wreck. It’s been painful, difficult, and has created some rather interesting circumstances due to my head injury (including my flooding the kitchen the other day because I forgot the sink was running). Not to mention that it’s all been dratted inconvenient!

And yet – God’s led us to some people who really need Jesus, and because of the wreck, has given us opportunity to share Him with them that we wouldn’t likely have had otherwise.

Ken’s been affiliated with a group called Racers Reunion for a few months and has become their chaplain. Last Saturday we went to NASCAR Day in Randleman. A mundane but fun-filled day – but we met a couple who have a Christian motor sports outreach to youth – based in the local high school. I got very excited! I’d love to see something like that here. I’m also excited about Racer’s Reunion. I really don’t care much about today’s NASCAR and wrestling racing, but I love to hear the old drivers and their families tell their stories, and I love to see the reactions from young people when they do. :) Ken’s been given a great opportunity for outreach.

And then, here’s the biggest thing that’s going on:  A couple of months ago, Mother Louise was in the hospital. Two of her daughters have been going to Dayspring Church in Greensboro, and the pastor and his wife came to visit Mother, even though she’s not part of their congregation and they’d never even met her! (That impressed me!) We hit it off with Pastor Phil and Marie instantly and have become great friends.

Dayspring is a church very much in transition. Pastor Phil came to it as it was at the end of a long decline and, perhaps, could have ended up being closed. He and Marie have been breathing the life of Jesus into it, and it’s very obvious that God is going to do great things there!

We all started feeling that God wants us working together, and have been praying about it ever since. But how? That remains to be seen. Both churches are small, and could perhaps merge together. Or become sister churches, each supporting the other. Or we, as pastors, could support them, and they could support us (it’s a lonely job at times, and only the Lord and other pastors really KNOW what it’s like!). We’re also planning missions work with them – both locally and in Jamaica.

We don’t know where God’s going to bring us and what He’s going to have us do … but we’re excited!

” Last Saturday we went to NASCAR Day in Randleman.”

Did you hear anyone saying the NASCAR prayer?

    “Hail Mary full of grace,
Help me win this stock car race.” :)
