Whatever happened to Todd Bentley?

Posted by Kathi on October 30, 2008

A Lakeland Update from C. Peter Wagner

The short version: Todd and Shonnah continue to receive and accept appropriate ministry. Peter’s wordy :) but I think he does that so that there’s no heresy hunter wiggle room.

Speaking of the heresy hunters (which is just as interesting as the info about TB)… he says,

While there must be no toleration or whitewashing of sin, there must also be no allowances for ungodly judgments in the name of Jesus. Hatred often masquerades as a passion for holiness. And while the church has had its share of tragic failures of leaders in recent days and equally tragic reactions, we must get this one right. It is possible to promote holiness and accountability in the spirit of grace.

The quickness to condemn and abandon a fallen comrade has caused us as much concern as has the actual sin of our friend. Some want to humiliate and expose Todd before the world. And then there are others who want to point to the obvious anointing on Todd’s life as the sign of God’s approval of Todd’s behavior. Neither is acceptable to us. There must be deep repentance and thorough restoration.

We must never tolerate sin. but we must also know that when someone falls we must lift them up and pray for complete restoration

Has anyone ever heard of discernment? For prophetic ministers these guys seem to be extremely lacking in discernment or good judgment. When will the body of Christ wake up and call a snake a snake and false prophet a false prophet.

We don’t need anymore charismatic superstars. We have Christ and His Word and that is enough.

  3. Rev Frederick G Merry says:

Tom discernment is here for people to use and in this case there may have been a lack of it. No we don’t need superstars we need preachers to step up and preach the truth and stop watering it down to please people. I as one please God not man. Remember in the last days and I believe we are in them and its not the big named preachers that will be used the greatest, it will be the little country unknown that God will raise up

  4. I agree with Bro. C. Peter Wagner. Jesus does not throw us away because we fall in a mud hole. He picks us up and cleans us up again and restores us when we cooperate with Him. Jesus was the only infallible person who ever lived.
God cares for Todd just as He cares for all that He died for. Maybe people had began to idolize him without realizing it. God will have no other gods before Him. Maybe he was as not as seasoned in the faith as he needed to be to stand in such a position. Whatever happened, we will have to answer to God for whether we prayed for our brother and his wife or not.We should be praying for restoration and growth to come out of this failure and for them to be stronger than ever in the Lord. Our heavenly Father is a merciful and kind God. He is to be praised.

Rev Fred…Preachers…more of the same?…Pthwaah! No! The whole religious-charismatic-prophetic-ego circus is being shaken and that’s a good thing. When people in it wake up to “apostolic protocol” as interpreted by Peter W as being rather a lot of human-inspired trollop, then we can get on walking with our Lord into the open and freed heavens without his well-intentioned but regrettably silly Amway-type hierarchical restrictions.

i believe the quote you have in this post is from the revival alliance rather than peter wagner.

  7. God have mercy freinds the end is near many are called few are chosen
