Do we REALLY believe Jesus?
Posted by Kathi on November 21, 2008
Back when we attended LCAG, Sam, our associate pastor, taught adult Sunday school most weeks. He’d often pick a topic and delve into it, and end up seriously under conviction. Not that there was any great sin in his life, but he saw there was room to become more Christlike. Sam being the funny guy that he is, would say something like “God beat me up all week over this!” But he loved it, and it was awesome to see the pastor being willing to grow and be transparent right along with us.
God beat me up all week over something. Again. It’s not the first time over this issue. I’d like to say it’s the last.
Do we – do I – really, really believe Jesus? Not believe in Him (of course I do! How could I not!) or trust in Him for salvation (again – of course I do, how could I not!) but really, really believe that He’s able to do anything and that not only does He want to answer prayer, He WILL answer.
Do we really take Him at His word when He says, “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”
We were talking after Bible Study with Pastor Phil about whether it’s all right to “test” God. But is it testing God to simply expect that He will do what He said He’ll do? After all, He’s not a man that He can lie.
Does our adherence to lip service (as opposed to audacious, won’t-take-no faith) restrain God from acting at times?
Much to ponder and pray about … but right now I need to get dressed and head to Greensboro. Actually I needed to go half an hour ago, I’m supposed to be at the body shop at 8:30 to pick up the van.
I can be like the rest of the Southerners and blame the snow, right?
More musings later…

Will he really? And for anyone?
“Jesus, please help me get out of the mess I’m in!”
Thank you Kathi – I needed to read that.
