Glorious vacation!

We had a rather unplanned vacation drop upon us :D

Mom invited us down for the weekend because the funeral home had a service for people who have lost loved ones throughout the year… and we were invited to Infusion Ministries International in Myrtle Beach for services on Monday and Tuesday. We weren’t sure when we’d be able to leave – had an awful time getting the dogs sorted out because of a misunderstanding – but it worked out to be even more time in the end. YIPPEE!

We left on Friday night and got into Mom’s late. Crash! We had a great day on Saturday poking around – we cruised up to the Wilmington waterfront and visited the Farmer’s Market, grabbed a bite to eat, then went back to Fort Fisher and Kure Beach for a quick hop onto the sand. I say “quick” because it was pretty cold out! Then Mom and Ken cooked steak and shrimps… yum-o!

Sunday morning, Ken and I went up to Global River Church in Wilmington. They are such wonderful folks with such a heart for revival! We love Pastor Tom and the whole family there. We were excited to learn that a team from GR will be ministering at Grace Church in High Point in early December… I’ll post details soon!

Then Sunday evening, we drove down to Myrtle Beach and got together for dinner with Timothy & Alicia from Infusion. We had the pleasure of meeting them at New Day (our home church) because they travel up here for some of the events… and it was a greater pleasure getting to know them and to hear the vision God’s given them for ministry.

While in Myrtle Beach, we stayed at Monterey Bay Suites. This was a God-orchestrated event. Another hotel was recommended (and it turned out to be a rather nice hotel!) but when Ken googled it, all he found were negative reviews! Then when he googled for other hotels, this is what popped up. For $40 a night. Nice. I’ll write a full review on the hotel separately, because it’s deserving of such. But in a word: nice. I’ll post links to the

So it turns out that God sent us there because an employee really needed prayer and encouragement. So did a guy who passed by us at the pool. Ditto for another employee. And another. Our stay was a wonderful lesson in living missionally, and we thank God for it!

Our biggest debate was “which first” – pool, hot tub, lazy river, or beach? We ended up doing them all – in that order, I think!

The ministry at Infusion on Monday night was incredible. Steven Brooks taught about the reality of the supernatural – angels and visitations from the Lord. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I’ve had many encounters of this nature. It was very refreshing to hear someone stand up and teach on the subject openly and extensively like this.

Afterwards, we got to hang out with Pastors Mike & Debbie (from New Day) at Denny’s. Debbie and I had dessert. Ken and Mike had cholesterol. We had to pray for their health ;) It was fun to be silly and just kick back and relax with them.

We were supposed to leave Tuesday morning. But we did two bad good things. First, we went to the first night at Infusion and wanted more. Second, we went to bed Monday night on the pull-down bed in the suite’s living room, with the balcony door open to the ocean. We woke up to sun, waves, and gulls.  Ken was more relaxed than I’ve seen him be in years! How could we go home?

So we made some quick calls and did some serious financial juggling and stayed another day. We ate breakfast in the room, then hit the pool. Lunch with Timothy and Alicia. Afternoon out at Pauley’s Island. It’s really, really beautiful out there. Then more ministry @ Infusion. This second night was for healing ministry – and God was very busy doing great things!

Wednesday morning we did (guess what?) pool, hot tub, and beach again. :D One last time! Our beach walk was very cool – God healed a butterfly that was dying. Why? Love. Then we headed for home. Got in rather late, took the dogs out, and flew to church.

Speaking of church, it was so good to be home at New Day! We love to travel, but we love to come home to church too! I ran the overheads last night. Pastor Bill preached a GREAT message about the necessity of LIVING belief (if we really do believe what the Bible says, we need to be doing the stuff!). I looked out at one point and saw Ken, little Jeremy, and Gary dancing with flags. I don’t care what anybody says, there is serious spiritual power that comes when men dance – and these are men who love to dance for the Lord!

It’s amazing to me the things that happen just because we live in expectation that God will. :)
