Todd mentioned another (now-dead-on-earth-but-forever-alive-with-Jesus) revivalist that I had no info about, so I looked him up: John G Lake. He’s got an interesting website.
Here’s what made me sit up and pay attention at 6 am…
“If you are ready to manifest His presence rather than just soak in it, JGLM is an effective way to make a difference in the real world.”
If you are ready to manifest His presence rather than just soak in it
We missed much of the service last night due to going out and getting some dinner and running an errand. So I was delighted to see on the lineup that GodTV was going to rebroadcast at 1:30am. I didn’t figure I’d wake up for it, but often I’ll hear something while sleeping and it’ll get into my spirit. I only allow good things in – I’m very careful what I leave the TV tuned to overnight!!
I woke up to hear Todd saying something about a fire truck. Stayed awake for another minute to see what was up with that (I found out later that he was doing a burning (imagine that!))
The good part starts at around 3 minutes on the video… just scroll the slider to the right if you want to get to it right off.
Then he started talking about how, when he was a younger man, he’d been desperate for God and really seeking Him… and as a result of his seeking, he had a radical encounter with Jesus. And with angels.
He basically says what I said a few posts ago… if stuff happened in the Bible, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t happen today. There’s no Smith Wigglesworth, no John G Lake, Katherine Kuhlman, AA Allen (etc.)… they’re all dead and gone. Who does God have left to work with? He pointed to the camera and crowd and said, “YOU.” Then he starts talking about the Blood (by this time I was REALLY awake!!)
He says something funny (and sad) along the way, too. He’s apparently visited some of the revival critics sites. He noted that the lame walk, the deaf hear, the blind see, AND the gospel is not only being preached to those who are there… it’s being preached around the world via television and satellite (even in the Arab world!!)… and yet, the #1 problem people have with him is “BAM!”
What would a great move of God – an outpouring of the Holy Ghost – signs and wonders and miracles – LOOK like?
Much of what I hear about the revival that’s negative seems to focus on what the revival (and the revivalist) look like. Some folks seem to focus as well on the fact that God just doesn’t DO stuff.
So I’m asking all the folks who are naysaying the revival – what does an outpouring or revival look like? Paint me a picture…
I'm a laid-down lover of Jesus Christ, passionate for Him and for the things of the Kingdom of God. I write about Jesus, the Bible, revival, healing, prophecy, the power of God, faith, and related topics. I throw in occasional gluten-free recipes, home-making tips, news and politics items, reviews, and all sorts of random things just for fun.
